Here it is, May 30. I was planning on announcing a winner tomorrow.
As it is, although there were a grand total of 17 new referrals from 8 different members, there is not one single successful referral in the lot. Those who came to contribute just 20 posts for a referral credit but filled their activity with games and then left cannot be counted as a successful new referral.
The point of this contest was to acquire much needed new members who will contribute value to this site. Telling someone to just come and play a few games for a referral credit hardly helps the site at all and cannot be considered. I am extremely disappointed.
ForumCoin is not immune to the challenges of all forums. Members come and go all the time. We need to acquire new members who will actively contribute added value to survive, and that should be coming by referral from members who have already enjoyed the site.
Acquiring new referrals is a numbers game. Many will come, not find what they are interested in and then leave. Once in awhile, someone shows up who finds a home and can remain an active member for a longer time.
That means you have to be very honest in representing what is here, and it does not need to be a hard task. All you need to do is to share a brief invitation that will attract people who are looking for the kind of content this site includes. It does not need to be a person to person presentation. There are lots of online opportunities to share a simple ad that will do the work for you.
As I already suggested the best ad is designed to attract the attention of those seeking the kind of information they will find here. It is just enough to get them to come and see for themselves, and they can find the rest by browsing the site. Those are the ones we need as new active members, who can come and contribute added value to the site.
Try something like this. Copy and use it for your ad, or come up with something similar to post anywhere you are allowed to post free ads. It is not work. A properly worded ad will find your referrals for you. If you find a good one, you might as well earn the referral fee honestly. No cheating required.
