Mini tutorial and how to embed a photo

Postby Netherrealmer » 06 Jun 2018, 16:50

Someone Pm'd me and asked me how to post pictures and Youtube videos on Forumcoin so I decided to make this mini tutorial with pictures so people can figure it out. I will do the Youtube tutorial later.

1.Find the picture you wanted to use on a search engine or any website. Once you find the picture of your liking, click it if it's from a search engine but if it's from a website skip to the blue colored text. After that right click the photo and click open image in new tab. Then on the new tab, Right click the photo and click copy image address.

2. On the posting box of Forumcoin, Click the IMG button.

This code will appear in the middle of those 2 codes. You will paste the link of the photo.

Now you just embed a photo on your discussion or reply.

OMG I've just spent hours trying to work this out .. and I did do it in the end. I copied it to my clipboard and then pasted the image on your colour thread but I wish I had seen this first.

See, got the hang of it now :D

There is another way of posting any photo in forum coin - after you have written the text - click at preview (near the Submit Button)
You will find an option _ Upload Attachment - select the photo from your desktop and then use add the file. Just click at Submit and you are done.

I normally do it like that but @fergus1234 removed that option (not sure how) so I had to do it the other way. It took me a while to figure it out as I didn't see this thread but I'm glad now as I know how to embed a picture. :D

Yes, I am uisng the upload an image attachment option if I have the copy of the image on my computer. Sometimes, I use the link and insert it in between the 'Img' code.

The upload option is available only if one clicks at "Preview" your content!

Great tutorial- would love to see more use of images and video on the forum.

Just something to point out: be careful where you link images from because it would be a shame to end up with a lot of broken links on the forum. My Avatar was removed the other week... not sure whether it was for hotlinking bandwidth or because the image host went down. If the site is smaller, sometimes it's a good idea to copy the image over to Imgur or another image hosting site and then link from that - you can credit the original site in the thread.

Idea: it would be awesome for ForumCoin to download the image whenever the image tag is used to it's own server and then self-host it. That way - no broken links!

What I mean is I don't see the image people uploaded. I prefer seeing embedded picture for that reason.

Hi @Nevertherealmer? What if the image is of a photo I took using my phone?
This is very helpful when I am getting an image from the internet.

I use this all the time and have never had a problem with it. If you click preview it appears.

A couple of details to be careful of, one that the image is not copyright and also that you are not stealing bandwidth by linking to someone else's server. Download the image and put it on your own server or a public host.

@oldbuddy I will definitely consider downloading the images cause of legal rights of ownership.

Could you enlighten on that copyright images how can you be located? Are there legal implications on the bandwidth infringement.

Btw we need to talk about FAFY,What type of sites can be supported to put in a frame? Y simple blog with only widgets from amaxo was rejected.

Read this short article about Hotlinking: http://www.webweaver.nu/html-tips/hotlinking.shtml

If you want to know why your site was rejected by FAFY, file a support ticket. I have no experience with widgets from amaxo. My guess would be it had no original content.
