Although, I like this option because with that we can be aware if the person is from which country but it shouldn't be mandatory for everyone to add a location and those who like to stay in Incognito mode should be allowed as such. There will be large number of users who don't like to reveal their location.

No one is forced to declare their location and users can be as vague or specific as they want if they choose to.

No one is "required" to answer the question, and indeed, most have not done so. If you look at the summary list, the member names were intentionally not included specifically because some members do not want their location publicly identified. Although the locations are identified by user name in an offline list I assembled to make sure there is no duplication, that detail is not shared online for member privacy.

Fergal originally posted the topic back in 2013 just out of general interest. I recently took the added step to sort through multiple responses, added in locations from member profile pages and picked up other locations from responses to other topics to assemble a summary list. I have also contacted many currently active members to ask for their input, and again, most have replied. I had to create the offline list with member names to eliminate the multiple duplications. It was originally just because it was interesting to see where members were coming from.

There is now another valid reason for assembling this list: Ad marketing.

This list clearly demonstrates that ForumCoin is truly a global site with members on every occupied continent on the globe. As the list expands, it provides a growing clarity of where the potential market is for ads members place on this site. Although it only represents a small percentage of the members, it is a sample of where members and visiting guests are coming from. The more who respond, the more accurate that sample becomes.

No one is required to respond but it does help clarify where ForumCoin is most popular around the globe and where those member ads are most likely to be viewed.

Maybe this will be an option for members. But I think filling up offline should be required for verification purposes. For me it's okey as long as the admin could give assurance of safety among members.

It's kind of uncomfortable if we would be asked to always update our location. I think it's not really needed as what matters are your posts and the fact that your account is real.

I think a location as big as one's country name(India in our case) should not pose any threat or issue. If we have to mention our full house number, street, building etc, that could be an issue(thieves/burglars/criminals etc).
