War vs Wat - difference in topic title and topic replay

Postby mrki444 » 18 Oct 2023, 18:37

I just notice this difference.
In title is word 'War' but in few replies is word 'Wat'. After page refresh same situation.

Only on my side or yours to?

Hi,

Posts contain a title which is stored alongside the post and consists of "Re:" followed by the Topic Title at the time of posting. If the original topic title had a typo, been rewritten or if 1 or more topics have been merged, all response will contain the topic title at the time of posting and not the later updated/current title. All new posts since the updated title will then contain the updated title.

In this case there as a typo that was corrected but responses made before the typo was corrected, carry the typo too.

Definitely interesting since usually database don't contain both values, original and updated, than just updated.

I don't really now why they have done that but it is sometimes useful when topics have been merged to see what topic certain posts came from so see who is responding to who.

When creating a new post in the full editor, it is also possible to alter the subject for your reply although really i don't know why anyone would ---> posting.php?mode=reply&f=6&t=36865

In this case it was because Fergal corrected a typo in the subject title of the first post though
