Hammy Sammy: My Story

Postby Spontaneo » 01 Jun 2025, 04:46

About 6 months ago, I was simply scrolling through the food website https://www.cooks.com. I do not remember what I was looking for. But, I am poor and always like to learn new and easy recipes which are frugal. To myself, this means self-improvement. What do you think? I found a recipe for “Hammy Spread”, also known as “Hammy Sammy”.

Such recipe I found is delicious, inexpensive and easy to prepare! I consume the Hammy Sammy several days a week.

Around then, I found a woman on YouTube that prepares “freezer sandwiches”.

Bingo!

The YouTube lady prepares her kids freezer sandwiches. She gives her kids peanut butter and jelly freezer sandwiches and lunch meat sandwiches. Personally, when it comes to peanut butter and jelly, I only like homemade peanut butter and jelly protein smoothies and protein shakes. Then, I love lunch meat sandwiches, but only pepperoni and salami with mozzarella.

The YouTube lady is right though. Good food, cheap and easy for grab and go. For example, yesterday, I grabbed a Hammy Sammy out of the freezer. I was starving! I unwrapped the Hammy Sammy and placed in the microwave for 1 minute. Voila! To be honest with you, if you know that you are going to be busy, pull a freezer sandwich out to be ready! Then, you are not going to even need a microwave!

Kids and adults alike can benefit from these sandwiches!

Then, a little while ago, I was browsing “freezer sandwiches” on YouTube and found yet another lady discussing the goodness of freezer sandwiches. She may be found here:

Many people say not to assemble the whole sandwich and place in the freezer. I think that the whole point of having freezer sandwiches would be to have everything assembled, freeze, then thaw when hungry and be grab and go convenient.

This just may be Cooking 101 for the person that does not know how to cook. Also, these freezer sandwiches are good for a family of many kids, a person who dines alone (such as myself), a university student and an inexpensive meal to have for a party!

You can buy bologna, pickles and mayonnaise at the local dollar store such as Dollar Tree for $1.25!

Again, I do find this as self-improvement. If you do not know how to cook, atleast you can rely on freezer sandwiches, such as Hammy Sammy, make sense?

When you take a sandwich from the freezer and microwave it, does that leave it soggy?

I simply just take the sandwich out and let it thaw. However, if I am in a real hurry, I do stick the freezer sandwich in the microwave for 30 seconds. The freezer sandwich is not firm, just a little soft.

This makes real sense. I will try the Hammy Sammy and see how it tastes. Hey not making it myself, I am going to search for it from where I expect it.

A quick and nice recipe. However, one cannot have such sandwiches daily. There also need to be some healthy yet not so costly recipes with freshly cooked food too.

Yes, I know that we need to have a balanced meal, but when we are struggling to make ends meet, then I guess that a Hammy Sammy is the closest thar I am going to get.

Yeah, that's really good, it's self-improvement at your level because even if you don't know how to cook, you still know how to handle hunger without drama. Freezer sandwiches like Hammy Sammy are a great backup plan. They give you energy and convenience without the stress of the kitchen. And that's a step towards independence. Little by little, you build your confidence. It's like a crow screaming at night. It makes you stop and listen to reality better.

At "my level"? I know how to cook. I taught myself.

It's true that sandwiches every day are boring and not good for your health. I like to cook a meal of vegetables and beans because it's cheap and filling. Use natural ingredients to get good flavor.

I realize that I am not supposed to write about food, but this is a hack. Saving money for one or saving money for a crowd! ;) ;)

Money is a powerful motivator.
You are justified to post on this sandwich.
