Android is open source OS so that we can do lots of things with it if we know it properly. Well, even developers are there who used to make changes with different phones and we can try them even if we don’t have knowledge about developing. But better we have basic knowledge regarding the same so that we can at least follow the procedure properly. So today we will talk basic things regarding custom ROMs.
What is custom ROM?
You can have idea about it from word ‘custom’. Let me tell you about first what is stock ROM? The android system which comes with our mobile preinstalled is called stock Rom for that android phone. While some developers used to make changes into this stock ROM or some fresh android OS to have many other customization options which are not available in stock ROM. Such customized android operating system can be called custom ROM.
Some Facts about Custom ROMs
If you try out this thing anytime then it is better to know some common facts regarding custom ROMs.
Different Custom ROMs for different phones: Normally there are many custom ROMs available for different phones. But you can’t took any custom ROM from internet and install it on your phone. Using any of them may kill your phone instantly. For each phones there are different Custom ROMs. So before installing custom ROM make sure it is particularly made for your phone.
Can we revert back to original: Yes of course. It is not permanent thing. You can revert back to original stock ROM either from backup you took or by installing it again directly.
Is it available for every phone: Nope. You can search it for your phone. But it is not necessary that you will get one. If your phone is famous then you will get more custom ROMs for your phone as there will be more developers for the same. So it depends on phone you are using.
How to install it?
Installing it is not that easy procedure either. First you need to install custom recovery on your phone which can install the custom ROM for you. There are two famous custom recoveries these days which is CWM and TWRP. You need to find out if any of them available for your phone or not. Then you need to install it by following particular procedure for your phone. You may find it on internet.
After installing recovery you need to find out custom ROM for your phone and install it via recovery. The whole procedure is quite hard to write here. So I am guiding it in shortly. You may need to refer internet for detailed procedure. Before installing custom ROM on your phone via recovery better you make complete backup of your stock ROM via recovery so that you can easily revert back to original android system whenever you want.
