6 Self made teenage millionaires and how they did it

It’s incredible to think how a 14 year old can accumulate millions of dollars while a 40 year old has barely seen 10000 dollars.

Although some were presented in more favorable conditions, you can’t deny that their brilliance and hard work had a lot to do with their early success.

As we can see from the young entrepreneurs, it’s never too early to become a millionaire.

1. Nick D’ Alosio

A self taught programmer, Nick started with how to videos which he posted online. At the age of 12, Nick has already built his first app and continued to do so whenever school closed.

But it wasn’t until he was 15 that he hit the jackpot when a Hong Kong investor took a keen interest in an app he created Summly, and gave him 300,000 dollars to advance the app.

The investment paid off well when Yahoo sent both Nick and his investor laughing all the way to the bank with a 30 million dollar check.

Nick D’ aloisio also took a job at the new found company.

2. Ashley Qualls

Ashley started her business when she was only 14, customizing her class mates’ social media profiles. It wasn’t after long when her little website whateverlife.com took off and started seeing revenue from Google adsense.

WhateverLife.com is now multimillion enterprises with a staggering number of over 7 million monthly users. She capitalizes on this traffic via Google adsense and private ads.

3. Jon Koon

Koon was born with a knack for business and was already in business at the age of 6, selling vegetables to neighbors.

Later, Koon opened an aftermarket auto store which took a positive turn when MTV famous show Pimp my Ride partnered with him. He provided exclusive parts used in the reality TV show.

This business expanded and now operates in over 20 countries over the globe.

4. Sean Belnick

With merge seed money of $500 he earned by mowing lawns, Sean started his online enterprise called Bizchair.com.

Having learned a lot from his stepfather who run a venture selling office furniture, Sean took advantage of the booming internet and started selling directly to households; this new way of selling saved a lot folks money and in no time his business grew so fast he was a millionaire by 16.

5. Chris Phillips

Phillips at 17 realized the potential of internet and the need for webhosting. With hesitation, Phillips launched a web hosting company, dot5hosting which has now grown and now offers more than hosting services.

Chris was a millionaire by the age of 19.

6. Adam Hildreth

Adam set up a social networking site Dubit for teens when he was only 14. The site became a hit in the UK and propelled him to six figure incomes and millionaire status.

Adam has now launched Crisp Thinking, a company that develops software to protect children from cybercrimes.

There’s no telling whether these young chaps had a rare gift or lady luck come down smiling upon them. However, we can learn that if we can start a project, believe in it and stick around through thick and thin. Then success has no option but to knock at our door steps.

I hope this serves not only as a challenge but as an inspiration for all of you.

Yes they are brilliant and lucky too, unfortunately most of us were not so lucky, I know many people with brilliant ideas who took them nowhere, even I tried several things with a potential success and had no luck. The know-how is not enough, luck is essential in every business.

Thanks for this article, @adssolsn....I really enjoyed it! I too say kudos to these young entrepreneurs, they deserve everything they got for the amount of work they put into their respective projects. I notice they all made it through the internet, so it helps that their generation is all about all these modern technologies and digital processes. They'd put many of us to shame with what they know and can do LOL!

Truly your brains can elevate you from point zero to a hundred of only you use it properly. I am so challenged with this story. Determination and focus is really the key.I guess this kids found it easier to focus on what they were doing because they wanted to be somewhere at a particular time or they wanted to be something by a certain period of time that's why they put all their focus on that one thing. The problem nowadays is that we do not want to take time and build up something we are forever racing with time and that's why we and up failing coz we are not patient. But for those kids they had no rush to get anywhere their ages agave them enough time to do things slowly but surely after all their parents were still there for them even if they failed. So the one thing that I have learned from this story is that teach kids to be independent and motivate or nurture their talents when they are still young they will grow up to be something big later in life.

Great that these kids used their opportunity very well. We also should encourage people like them in our locality. Also it shows with hard work and dedication towards the goals.

true, having a great idea at the right time combined with hard work and a backing of the right people will get you there.

now the hard part is having all the factors favoring you.
that's why we have to keep working to create our own opportunities, make the necessary connections and convince others that our ideas are the best.

there's no easy way to it; just pure consistence.

That is a diverse group of products and services. It shows that the right idea and good timing can pay off at any age. You are never too young or too old to fulfill a need. Many people are becoming millionaires due to the rise in the price of bitcoin. Buy low and sell high is a concept that works. Sometimes it takes patience. The key is to recognize an opportunity, do your due diligence, develop a goal and have a plan.

It all comes down to the ongoing debate and calls from various sectors to have entrepreneurship as a compulsory subject in senior high. Getting a job has never made anyone a millionaire yet. And this is what the school system is teaching. That a good education ensures a good job. That is not good enough.

I agree that teaching entrepreneurship in school could play a role in developing an interest in running your own business. Now I am wondering about some things--how can they balance that with the rest of the curriculum that must be taught? Do you think they should lessen the current study plans or increase the school term? Perhaps more time, resources and entrepreneurial internships could help. Budgets are tight so where would the money come from? Should they charge higher fees/lower aid. Should they increase taxes?
