4 Collaboration Tools for Remote Freelance Work

Postby skysnap » 05 Sep 2017, 08:28

Freelancing from overseas is never easy. You have to be in constant touch with the freelancer and clients both. And this can create issues if the connection on either side is slow. This means you have to work harder to setup the collaboration tools to use. Though these tools don't actually get the work done on their own. You can use them to make the collaboration easier. In this article I am going to list some of the tools that can be used for the remote freelancing work.

Slack

Slack is a collaborative chat room. And here you can add the client one at a time and collaborate on the stuff. If you have other workers with you then that can be done as well. So it can work out on the group work. And you can take things done lot easier this way. You can manage such chat and collaboration tools this way. You can see that it is not going to be easy adjusting to such chatroom. But client can use this to hire multiple workers and getting things in sync here.

Trello

When you have to do list of items that you wish to share with project workers. In such case you can make use of the items listed with the service such as this. As you can see that it is not going to be easy to make use of the tools for project management. Most of them are paid so it'd be reasonable to start with free version of the trello. If you want to use then later upgrade to the Microsoft Project management tool. That can be helpful.

Google Docs

You can use this feature of collaboration inside google doc. And you can save a lot of time and money. Same feature is there in the Microsoft office. Most of those tools are not likely to be easy to learn for some. But google docs makes it easy to collaborate. Just share the document with specific people. And this should be more than enough to get the work done. On that basis I'd say google docs is good enough.

WhatsApp

When you want to make calls for free and do some text chat then the only option in this case is whatsapp. There are some other alternatives but it's better to make use of the whatsapp for better use of the time. You can use it for one or more users. And you can form the group too. So this is surely be usable in many ways. I personally think that you should take a look at the whatsapp's new video call feature too.

These tools are definitely be of use for anyone who wants to keep touch with the clients. And this can be helpful to get your work done. I think that's one more reason I'd say freelancing is easier this way. I would say that not all people can pull off the work in that case. It'd be reasonable to use the tools and make it easier for yourself to work with them.

Great tips :) I have only used Google Docs and Whatsapp from this list. First I heard of Slack and Trello. I will be sure to be checking them out. I like that you can share documents with Trello.

I am still using Microsoft words as I always bring my tiny laptop around with me. Whatsapp and email(Google and Yahoo) on my phone is helping a lot in monitoring my freelancing jobs when I am outside.
