Have you found yourself not wanting to do the things you are doing? Have you noticed that you don’t have the energy to finish your task at work, or maybe you are finishing something but you don’t have a sense of urgency because you feel tired or just lame tardy? Are you losing your objective or the reason why you are doing what you are doing now? If your answer is Yes to the questions, you are exactly feeling burnout. However, the feeling of burnout could be tested from the following question.
Question 1: The Law Test
For example, in your place, the law states that there will be no business. You need to close your business. Everyone in your place will do the same thing. Do you consider following the law without a guilt or with guilt? Do you allow that law and simply move on to the next career even if you don’t have any idea?
If you are feeling guilty and you feel like fighting for your business, then you are not ready to give it up. You should allow yourself to take a break from what you are doing, to stuff that makes you laugh or refresh your mind and get back when you are ready. If you feel like giving up, then exactly you are feeling burnout and it is time for a career change.
Question 2: The Time Off
On being busy with what you are doing, whether your own business or your career at work, is there a time you consider a time off? How many times had you a break from being busy? Is there something you do like an inspirational activity or a great hobby you do when you are not at work?
If we start to question if we like what we are doing and start complaining as well, it is a sign that you are burnout. It is like eating your favorite food. If you eat it once, you will like it again. But if you are eating it, 24 hours every day, you will hate it for sure on the next day. The same thing with what you are doing so consider at Time Off.
Question 3: The 80/20 Rule
The 80% of our frustration in business comes from 20% of our business activity. This applies to working professionals too. Are there things that are dreadful at your work or business? Are there things that are outside of your genius zone that you cannot figure out what to do with it anymore?
These are the things that you don’t know what to do anymore and you never thought you will hate doing it. You need to remove this to your activity or else it will leave you frustrated trying to solve it even if you try a lot of times. If there are things you think you cannot passionately do, it needs to go away other than thinking what is wrong with you.
Question 4: The Natural Strength
Is there a time that you feel weakness is what working on you when doing your job or making something for your business? Is problem starts to arise that you become aware but still hasn’t resolved and you ask yourself why?
Strength is a thing that every individual has and naturally good at. If we apply it to everything that we do, we feel strong, things get done and greatly done, we meet deadlines, we make everyone happy and every good result comes from it. However, if we are not applying the natural strength, we feel not satisfied, we start to question our capability, and just plain unhappy about it. If you think you are feeling exactly like this, then you are really burnout.
Analyze what you feel about it because it will help you to decide if you feel burnout or not. If you are stuck on the things that you hate, time is wasted. You should consider changing your path to a more substantial and purposely driven life.
