Work and Travel

Category: Technology and Business
Meta Description: This article gives the small business owner some tips and tricks on how they can get a lot of work done while they are traveling from one place to another and even from one country to another.

Traveling seems like a part of a small business life. This means they may be going from one meeting to another, going to another state or country to attend a seminar or training for professional growth, or just for leisure, to reap their hard earned fruits. However, there is no need to worry about the things that he or she needs to do once they arrived in their destination. They can actually finish a lot of work in the hours that they will spend traveling especially if they are traveling by plane.

Power Pack

Power pack does not mean bringing everything that you can on your travel. It means charging up all your electronics that you will use for work. These include your mobile phone and your laptop or tablet. Making sure that everything is fully-charged will ensure that you can use it throughout the travel or at least, the good part of it. You should also be fully-charged so make sure that you are well-rested the night before you leave. It will surely not be as comfortable working in your office or at home so you will need all the patience, positive attitude, and good mood, in able to stay motivated to finish all the work that you can in a span of hours.

Write and Build Connections

During the travel, especially a flight, there are specific times when the passengers are asked to turn their gadgets off. This is a perfect time two write something. It may be a letter, a list, some ideas, or anything at all. The task of writing is usually ignored when gadgets are available since it’s so much easier to perform tasks on an electronic device. However, some personally written cards where it is dues, like giving thanks, anniversaries, or any other occasion may it be business-related or personal, can be done during compulsory offline times. Some people who still maintain a journal can take this time to update it or write an entry. This is also a great conversation starter, especially when you are writing a card. A conversation while in the plane is a perfect opportunity for building connections and friendships.

A lot of people are just waiting and trying to entertain their selves during the flight. This is why it is a perfect opportunity to build connections. Most passengers would welcome something that will make them think and hold their interest while on the flight. Small business owners should practice good listening and interpersonal skills while on the flight. A wise thing to do is have business cards ready just in case the small business owner and another passenger talked about a common interest. It may start a friendship or a business connection. It is surely another productive thing to do on a flight.

Leave the Window Alone

People would always want the window seat. Well, by all means, let them have it. Even though you may miss the great view of clouds and cities and islands from below, you will get comfort and convenience in its place. It is easy to get up every time you feel the need to, and you will save time when it is time to get off the plane. You will be one of the first ones to get your things and leave. This will give you more time to rest once you have reached your destination.

There are a lot of other ways on how to get things done while traveling. This will give you more time for relaxation and fun when you arrived in the hotel or you can add it to the amount of work that you will be doing there once you get to access your office phone from providers.

I love the "leave the window seat alone" part. Reminds me lots of times when I have tried so hard to have that seat by all means.

This is very helpful and the window seat thing is totally relatable! I used to crave for that seat badly - I always pay extra just so I can assign my seat number. But now, I always prefer the aisle seat! Especially on long flights, the aisle seat is the best.

I love to have the window seat too, but I feel no secured when sit beside a man and "trapped" and hard to get out... After that, I prefer to sit near to the passenger lane.

The window seat point is totally acceptable as in the past I used to crave for this seat but now when I travel long distances I tend to write something while moving so I prefer taking the other seats or whichever seat I get. I usually charge my gadgets fully the day before traveling. Thanks for the tips. :)

Whether it is a plane, bus or train I used to like the window seat but now it is not necessary for me to sit there. It is not to exit more rapidly but just my personal preferences have changed.
