Doing physical exercise with the whole family is the perfect way to stay in shape and keep the family together at the same time. Here are four reasons as to why it is better to exercise with your children.

1. It is a perfect way to bond with the child

Children need constant attention from their parents at any age. Therefore, when parents involve their children in various common activities, children feel important, get themselves involved in the activity and appreciate the parental care. Carrying out common physical exercises involves spending more quality time together with your child/children, while your child’s exercise is associated with something positive. This approach will be very useful and help them for their future. Such activities also give parents the opportunity to better know the character and preferences of their children as physical exercises and entertainment are closely linked.

2. Being active and in good physical shape is the ultimate goal of all people regardless of their age and career.

The main purpose of physical exercise is to keep the body healthy, free from diseases and in favorable physical conditions. A trained body is healthier. This is a fact and it is scientifically tested and proved. Physical exercise not only involves burning excessive fatty tissue, but also prevents you a lot of common diseases that frequent you every now and then taking away your peace of mind and money. In addition, physical activity promotes regeneration and oxygenation of the body and strengthens the immune system. Other than that, the exercises help children develop their body in a harmonious way, while in the case of adults physical activity reduces the risk of illnesses that may appear after reaching a certain age in their life, for example, problems with obesity or blood pressure.

3. Exercise helps to gain healthy habits

What is learned during childhood and teenage years, conditions us in our adult life. Wanting to stay in shape and interest in sport is to be formed from our earliest years of life. This may be frequently appreciated by our elders when they do not feel the need for physical exercise or enjoy doing it, because they did not acquire the habit when they were young. When we reach our life as elders, we become more sedentary and this is not healthy for our body. If we have acquired adequate physical habits, we can get a better state of health and fitness to face this stage of our life.

4. Physical activity can be an excellent activity

Generally, children love to play and entertain and usually tend to involve other family members in them. Common physical activities are a great way and opportunity to arouse the interest of children in team games like football or basketball. The participation time spend in such activities echoes a pleasant time in the company. Furthermore, these are games that your child already knows and can go perfecting thanks to the training. It is important to encourage positive feelings associated with physical activity in your children.

Exercising together brings families together, this is a very important point. Nowadays kids aren't naturally active, like we were, we don't see kids playing outside anymore, that is why it is important that parents come with them outside and play all together.
As parents we have to recognize the power we have to model healthy behavior in our children and the best way is doing it with them.

This is the best thing to do in a family setting. And what you have shared is very dry the bond between the kids and the parents becomes very tight. I see my neighbour the other day do this and it looked so good.

Thanks for this reminder - I actually just published a blog post about our current "winter activity" with our toddler that is somehow related to this :lol: Well, it is my husband's job to look after him while at it, but the effort to get there requires everybody to walk towards the sports complex. So I also consider that as a workout. :)

The article really highlights the benefits of exercising with children. Children have a lot of energy--they are always running, jumping, dancing and putting their gymnastics on display. Their form of play is like exercise for me. Teaching good habits and bonding with children are two great reasons to exercise with them.

I have two children who still live at home and I am very lucky my kids are runners like me. I have done a couple of 5km runs with my son and we cycle together as well. This strengthens and improves our relationship.

Exercising with your children also creates a relaxed and trusting atmosphere and they can open up to you on things that they normally would not tell you within a home setting.

Actually this a very good idea. This is better than exercise because it looks more of a play time rather than a routine. The most beneficial of this style of work out is the bonding time with kids. Priceless

Thanks for sharing this, exercise with the kids is good for both parties, to keep body healthy and slim. Moreover, it spends lesser if compared to other leisure activities! :P
