Understanding the Internet

Internet (Interconnection Networking) is collection of open global communications network and connect computer networks of different systems with different types and species, using a type of communication such as telephone, satellite and others.

So in short, it can be interpreted that the Internet is a collection of various kinds of computer network system in the world that is interconnected with one another and can communicate with each other.

History of the Internet

Historically, the Internet was born in the era of the 60s, or more precisely in 1969. Internet originated from research sponsored by DARPA (Defense Advanced Reasearch ProjectsAgency).

This research aims to develop a computer network:
It runs transparently, through a variety of data communication networks that are connected to one another.
Resistant to various disturbances (natural disasters, nuclear attack, etc.)
The successful development of this network spawned APRANET daan (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network). So APRANET is the first computer network in the world.
Model DARPA

DARPA Reference Mode is a reference used by the network protocol TCP / IP protocol created by DARPA. A reference model is similar to the OSI Reference Model, in which each layer is below provides services to the layer above it, and the existing layers above using a service to the layers underneath.

DARPA reference models only have 4 layers, namely:
4 Apllication Layer
3 Host-to-Host Layer / Transport Layer
2 Internetworking Layer / Internet Layer
1 Network interface layer / Phisical Layer

Explanation of the reference model DARPA
apllication Layer

This layer serves to provide a service for TCP / IP applications, this layer handles high-level protocols, issues of data references, the process of encoding and dialog control that enables communication between network applications.

Protocols running:
Telnet Protocol Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Domain Name System (DNS), Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP), File Transfer Protocol (FTP), Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP).
Host-to-Host Layer / Transport Layer

This layer serves to set communication between hosts by creating a session connection-oriented or connectionless deploy a broadcast. Protocols running on this layer protocol is the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and User Datagram Protocol (UDP).
Internetworking Layer / Internet Layer

This layer has a major task in determining the best router that will be passed by the data packet. Protocols that run at this layer is the Internet Protocol (IP), Address Resolution Protocol (ARP), Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP), and Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP).
Network interface layer / Phisical Layer

Serves to put the frames of data to be sent to the network media. Protocols running in this layer are several architectures local network (such as Ethernet or Token Ring), as well as service WAN technologies (such as Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS), Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN), Frame Relay and Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM ).)
Internet applications were first discovered

Internet applications were first discovered
The first is an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is one of the internet service for file transfer. The process to transfer files from a computer to a server (file server) is called the upload (upload). Files that are already in the file server, can be taken by others to be stored in a computer (pc). The process took a file from the file server is called with the download (download).

The second followed by email, mail or electronic mail is a written or electronic messages sent and received through a computer.

Third is Telnet, Telnet (Telecommunication Network) is a network protocol used on the Internet connection or a LAN (Local Area Network). Telnet is used to connect to a server and a specific port. Telnet is used to interact directly with the server.

Thats the history of internet and what the internet is,hope its help you
Thanks for your attention

If you were given a platform to teach beginners on matters technology I think you would be a perfect candidate do that. This is some good information.

Telnet is an old but still useful tool for network testing. It helps you connect to a server directly through a specific port and interact with services without major complications. When you log in with telnet, you can send raw commands and see the response instantly. This makes it easy to check if a port is open or a service is running properly. In the past, telnet was widely used for remote administration, but its security is very low because data is sent in plain text without encryption. That's why these days people prefer to use SSH because it adds great protection and makes communication safe. However, telnet still remains very handy for troubleshooting and verifying connectivity quickly. Its simplicity makes it easy to understand the basics of networking and how servers communicate with clients without too much stress.
