BEYOND THE CLASSROOM
A revamp of the education system is urgently called for
The syllabuses that schools and colleges follow have a set pattern and apart from the 3 R’s the rest that is taught may not suit many of the students that have different aptitudes
Even though in colleges there are categories to choose from not all students succeed in getting what they want and are forced to pick any category just so that they earn a degree and that degree eventually may not lead to a successful career.
There is dissatisfaction among many as they are forced into a situation having no other choice
There certainly can be a choice if right from day one students get an opportunity to start their learning life that is aptitude oriented.
In the era that we live in, the Internet has opened up learning opportunities to pick and choose what one has an aptitude for. But most Enterprises look for those who hold degrees and this mind set should change.
Learning something that one has an aptitude for can also help one start a business that is more rewarding than getting those degrees and getting a job that may not give the kind of satisfaction if it is not aptitude oriented.
The clichéd saying ‘All this and heaven too’ can be applied when one earns doing something for which one has a passion and that is what one should aim for.
Sadly however not many would choose this path of going the aptitude way but spend years to get those degrees that will more often than not lead to stagnation.
The Establishments should recognize those who are born with talents and have qualifiications that are aptitude oritneted rather than go for those who have just mugged to get those degrees.
The testing processes in Establishments need a revamp that can help recognize real talent which will also help the Establishments as those doing work that is aptitude oriented will show better results.
Going by what one sees that does not seem to be the case yet but it is hoped that those with talents will get an opportunity without having to waste years in colleges to earn those degrees
There are a few Entrepreneurs who are doing extremely well as their business is based on what has been their passion.
Dirubhai Ambani the founder of Reliance Industries is a fine example He gave up school at age 17 and started a small venture and today that Company that is run by his son is making waves
