Netherrealmer wrote:I discovered Suno the way most modern revelations arrive: accidentally, late at night, while procrastinating on something far more important. Suno is an AI music generator, which sounds either like the future or a very polite way of saying “your guitar is obsolete.” You type a prompt, feed it lyrics if you have them, and—bam—you’ve got a song. No band drama. No broken strings. No drummer who insists the tempo is “a feeling.”
If you’re feeling especially lazy (a sacred state of mind), you can even let the AI write the lyrics. I didn’t do that. I’m a writer. I hoard lyrics the way other people hoard old magazines or unresolved emotional issues. I already had songs—lyrics and melodies living rent-free in my head for years—just waiting for a way out.
The catch, of course, is capitalism. If you don’t pay at least eight dollars a month, you can’t monetize anything. Pay the fee, though, and suddenly you’re the proud owner of 100% of your song’s copyright, free to unleash it on iTunes, YouTube, TikTok, or the void. Eight dollars for ownership is cheaper than most bad relationships I’ve been in.
