Pop Suno -The future of Music?

Postby Netherrealmer » 09 Jan 2026, 18:35

I discovered Suno the way most modern revelations arrive: accidentally, late at night, while procrastinating on something far more important. Suno is an AI music generator, which sounds either like the future or a very polite way of saying “your guitar is obsolete.” You type a prompt, feed it lyrics if you have them, and—bam—you’ve got a song. No band drama. No broken strings. No drummer who insists the tempo is “a feeling.”

If you’re feeling especially lazy (a sacred state of mind), you can even let the AI write the lyrics. I didn’t do that. I’m a writer. I hoard lyrics the way other people hoard old magazines or unresolved emotional issues. I already had songs—lyrics and melodies living rent-free in my head for years—just waiting for a way out.

The catch, of course, is capitalism. If you don’t pay at least eight dollars a month, you can’t monetize anything. Pay the fee, though, and suddenly you’re the proud owner of 100% of your song’s copyright, free to unleash it on iTunes, YouTube, TikTok, or the void. Eight dollars for ownership is cheaper than most bad relationships I’ve been in.

So I copied my lyrics into Suno, described the melody in my head (which felt a bit like explaining a dream to a bartender), picked a genre, and hit generate. It spat out four versions. Three were impressive. One was terrifyingly accurate. It matched the exact melody I’d been carrying around for years, like the AI had been eavesdropping on my brain during long showers. I stared at my screen the way people used to stare at UFOs—excited, confused, and mildly concerned.

This is the magic of it: you don’t need to play instruments anymore. You don’t even need a garage. You just need ideas and a Wi-Fi connection. The only thing I still need to figure out is how to strip the AI vocals so I can replace them with my own voice—because if I’m going to embarrass myself, I’d like full creative control.

What really gets me is how familiar this all feels. There was an anime, Carole & Tuesday, where AI composed music for singers. Back then, it was science fiction. Now it’s a monthly subscription.

I paid for one month. I might not renew. I’m not chasing viral hits or passive income fantasies. I just want the songs in my head to exist somewhere outside of me. Maybe they’ll become demos. Maybe I’ll pitch them to singers. Maybe they’ll just sit online quietly, like old Playboys under a bed—proof that, once upon a time, I made something and let it loose.

Here is the song I created

So yes, You can make your own song for free, though you have to pay 8 dollars if you want to make money out of it.

This is kind of cool. I have a lot of songs in my head too. But I'm not willing to try an AI tool. Michael Jackson kept his personal artwork private. I want to keep some stuff private. Know what I mean?

But I like the video. I think you can actually sell it. I can imagine it as part of a soundtrack. I'm not kidding. I'm serious.

Suno is free though, but you can only publish the song for monetization if you pay $8. So, you know, you don't have to publish the song. You can just, you know, turn your songs into real songs so you can have them on your personal playlist. So yeah, a lot of the songs I wrote in my life are now real songs, even though AI is singing it.

If only King David had this tool when he played his harp. Since the tool is free, maybe I could put in a psalm and then hear what it sounds like. I'd only use it privately. I wouldn't try to sell it. It might be soothing and soulful.

By far, I was able to turn 10 of the songs I wrote when I was younger into real songs, and it can do any language. you can choose genre, era and a choice between male and female singer, no duet option yet

Suno is like a music shortcut. You type a prompt and the lyrics turn into a track without the drama of a band. For eight dollars, you get all your copyright and you can distribute your songs on different platforms without much stress and the vibe stays fresh.

I'm actually considering to upgrade so I can sell songs in iTunes, but I have to make sure the songs are very, very catchy. I'm practicing the master of making prompts to make sure the results will be catchy. And also which version of the song. Usually if you paste a lyric and try to make songs out of it, Suno will make four versions.

I got a feeling you're going to turn this activity into an income stream. I'm so slow, I haven't created YouTube videos for my K-drama reviews. I keep telling myself to do it, but I don't.

Is it narcissistic that my playlist now are my demos. You know, I wish I would just find a way how to sell these to singers.

Listening to your own demos is about creativity and self-confidence, not a mental illness. You have to start connecting with studio people and sending your work to big producers to get noticed.

Yeah. That could be good. At least it would get your foot in the door to have an established artist perform your songs. If that's your goal, aim for it.

I don't really have to be, you know, I guess, happy that, you know, that the songs stuck on my head finally have real melodies. The songs that, you know, I wrote as a kid finally have melodies, and I don't need to have piano lessons to give them the melodies they deserve.

Continue to report your progress on this effort. I'm waiting for the day you tell me your music is part of the soundtrack for a movie or TV show. :D
