Ber fruit also known by the names Ziiphus mauritiana, Indian Jujube and Chinese date is a humble fruit not known to many.
The Ber Fruit tree is medium sized and can live for many years. The yield is between the months Decembder to March. The adult tree needs no maintenance and can only live on water that it gets during the monsoon season
This tiny fruit is a favourite of children Women, with a basket filled with the Ber Fruit are often seen sitting near the gates of schools where children flock to buy them.
Very Little was so far known to the public about the goodness of this fruit that surpasses the so called fruit of the rich – apples, almonds the works.
Thanks to the Internet and particularly AI they are singing the praises of this humble fruit They call it a super food loaded with many vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. The Vitamin C content boosts one’s immunity and to top it all it is tasty – more sweet and less sour. .
A delicious pickle made from the Ber fruit that has jaggery and chilie powder as ingredients is mouth watering and can be easily added to one’s pantry or refrigerated.
