My phone screen cracks, so I do the “responsible” thing — order the exact replacement for my model. I even watch this smug little tutorial video where everything looks so easy, like some magical two-minute arts-and-crafts project.
Then reality hits. My fat, clumsy fingers are wrestling with this microscopic ribbon connector that refuses — REFUSES — to lock in. In the video, they make it look like child’s play. In real life? It’s like trying to thread a needle while wearing oven mitts.
Of course, repair guys don’t struggle because they’ve got tweezers — which, surprise, I don’t own — and hands trained in the black magic of making tiny parts snap together. Now I’m stuck. Either I admit defeat and hand it over to a repair shop, or I just keep a $200 paperweight with a brand-new but useless screen.
The only silver lining? At least they can’t scam me with some “extra parts” charge, because I already bought the damn screen myself.
