Vogue Magazine AI Model

Postby Fergal » 31 Jul 2025, 05:09

There has been some controversy after the August print edition of Vogue magazine includes an ad for Guess that features a model that is not real, "she" was created by AI. Some people believe that a model like that creates unattainable beauty standards negatively impacting on health and mental well being. If AI wasn't used, I assume a real life model would have been paid for the job.

You can read more about it here on the BBC website.

That is how far AI is reaching. More yet to come.

This has sparked a lot of debate, and for good reason. Using AI models in advertising may seem like a technological step, but it also has its own implications, especially for mental health and perceptions of beauty. People can compare themselves to unrealistic standards.

This also affects the jobs of real people. If a real model were to take on the job, the person would earn a legitimate income. Technology is now replacing humans, which calls for a deeper discussion about ethics and fairness in the workplace.
