Do you play any musical instruments

Postby bestwriter » 14 Nov 2025, 04:36

Playing by someone with talent and by someone who learns to play there is a huge difference.

I am the one who tried to play an instrument without talent and those around preferred that I give up my effort. :D

Are you a talented musician?

Hard work beats natural talent. I tried to play the guitar without any talent. People pressured me to give up a lot.

But I don't know if you are a talented musician. Anyone can learn to sing with hard work. Music is about your heart, not just your skills.

One needs a ear for music to be able to sing or play to attract listeners.

I am not, I have never learned how to play an instrument but I wish I had. My kids are both having guitar lessons in a music school and they really like it, it is so amazing seeing them playing the guitar. :)

Today's parents think beyond the classroom and if kids like what they are doing that is a plus sign

I’m not an expert, but I have a Casio keyboard that I play sometimes. I mostly mess around with simple tunes or try to pick out melodies by ear.

Having a Casio keyboard and trying out melodies by ear is a very refreshing vibe. It makes you learn naturally without pressure. You build your ear training slowly by playing simple tunes over and over again. Your skills improve and your creativity grows faster. That's the way most people start and later become comfortable writing or playing more complex pieces. Small practices every day make you continue to sound better and enjoy yourself more.

I used to write my own music score. Once I tried the Casio I would know which keys that were. Once the score is written it was easy to take care of timings as well.

You seem very talented! Do you write your own score and then play it on the Casio? That's real talent. I think the Casio is like your secret weapon.

Haha, same here—people around me thought I should quit too. Ended up sticking with it though, using some lessons from artmaster.comonline lessons to slowly get better. Not exactly a natural talent, but after messing around for a while, I can play songs that actually sound decent.

Even I was tormented by people who wanted me to play on the sidelines but I never gave up on the street. I have dug into online lessons and now my fingers have started to accept and produce meaningful sounds. It's not that I am born with talent but daily practice has helped me until now I play drums that people understand and praise.

I play classical and electric guitar to a reasonable standard. Those are two different instruments, though there is significant overlap. I can play certain other guitar like instruments, to a limited extent
