Poetry Contests

Postby bestwriter » 24 Dec 2025, 04:13

Ihave an account at a Site where they invite poems and also have contests

I did post a few but what is more trying is to keep reading poems of others and rate them. I find that quite a tiring exercise. It seems like a give and take policy You rate them and they will rate you

I would have preferred if there was a team that took that decision

What do you think?

The "give me and I give you" system on poetry websites is very boring and often loses the flavor of true art. Instead of people reading a poem with emotion, they read it as a duty just to get a "rating" and get feedback, which makes the evaluation less realistic. It turns into a game of seeking votes instead of seeking the quality of the work.

A team could make things fairer and take the pressure off participants.

The give and take policy loses the flavour of choosing what is good and what is not good
