I have been thinking about the workings of search engines. Specifically, I am wondering whether adding a question mark at the end of a search phrase causes search engines to provide different results.

I haven't tried to see the difference. Just performed a search and results appeared the same.

I did a little testing and i think you pretty much get the same results irrespective of if you add question mark or not.

And AI will likely modify the end results. Still the results are the same.

AI systems interpret text as a whole, and the question mark is often treated as just a punctuation mark, not as an element that changes the underlying meaning of the question.

On the other hand, AI can modify or change the results based on how it interprets the context, but as you said, the results often remain the same. Minor differences may be seen where the question mark helps distinguish between a statement and a question, but in general, AI and search engines are built to recognize context without relying too heavily on the mark.

That is true. AI has its way of doing things just like when it comes to interpreting. Whether with a question mark or not, the meaning remains the same. But with humans, it makes much more sense and understanding.

I bet in a few years AI will have the ability to understand prompts with question marks, as opposed to those without.
