When Batteries Leak

Postby Spontaneo » 04 Mar 2026, 06:47

Last year, I bought 2 new sconces for my bedroom office. About 6 months ago, a sconce broke and somehow leaked. So, no good.

A few days ago, my remaining sconce began to leak.

I need battery-operated lights. Any thoughts on what to buy?

Why do you need battery operated lights? Could you get an extension lead and a plug in desk lamp? Or maybe even ask your landlord to put in a couple of extra electric sockets for you.

Battery leakage occurs due to chemical reactions, causing corrosion and damage; prevention includes using quality batteries, proper storage, and prompt replacement, while cleanup requires protective gear and neutralizing acidic residues safely always.

You are laudable @Neurosurgeon for pointing out the cautionary measures required when handling leaking batteries.
