Guys what do you think of Poison Ivy's new design

Postby Netherrealmer » 18 Feb 2026, 16:20

Poison Ivy is one of Batman's most popular villains. She was this eco-terrorist who wants to kill humans so Earth will be nothing but plants because she loves trees and flowers so much. She was this environmental scientist who went crazy, and, you know, she was a very sexy supervillain.

She loves plants so much that eventually she became half-plant herself.

DC Comics decided to redesign her again, but she doesn't look sexy anymore, she doesn't look hot anymore. This time, they decided to turn her into a monster.

Yep. Poison Ivy, whose real name is Dr. Pamela Lillian Eisley, is one of Batman's most enduring and complex villains. She first appeared in Batman #181 in 1966, created by Robert Kaniger and Carmine Infantino, and was inspired in part by Nathaniel Hawthorne's short story, Rappaccini's Daughter.
Originally portrayed as a brilliant botanist, her origin story has been retold many times, but the common thread is that she gains immunity to toxins and the ability to control plant life after a traumatic experiment or betrayal. This transformation leads her into an eco-terrorist, where she sees humanity as a threat to the planet and seeks to replace society with a world ruled by plants

Beyond her powers. Manipulating plants, producing deadly toxins, and using pheromones to control others. Poison Ivy is often portrayed as attractive, intelligent, and morally ambiguous. She embodies both villainy and environmental support, making her a unique figure in Batman's rogues gallery. Her partnerships with Harley Quinn and Catwoman in groups such as the Gotham City Sirens add depth to her character, demonstrating her capacity for loyalty and friendship despite her radical ideology.

Real. Poison Ivy loves plants so much that she ended up becoming half a plant herself. Cool?

It's a complete thrill how her love turned her into such a strange and unique creature.

Well I must have been asleep when this villain was introduced into Batman lore. I only remember Catwoman. LOL.

Poison Ivy’s latest redesign gives her a fresh, eco‑warrior aesthetic with vibrant green armor and botanical motifs, blending gothic style with environmental symbolism, sparking fan debates about whether the update enhances her villainous charm or strays from classic lore.

I will have you know that I have never seen a Batman movie or TV show with Uma Thrumond. And I like Uma Thurmond! Somehow this slipped under my radar.

I really just want a reply from a person looking at the original design and the new design and having a real opinion. But too bad I got a reply from an AI with multiple personalities and a person who doesn't care about comics. I already posted the pictures, so even people who don't read comics will have the visuals.

To be honest i wasn't really a fan of poison ivy, i never hated her, and at the same time i did not really like her to me she was just one of those villains i really didn't pay much attention to. I like the old design better though, but the new design is great for kids, so they can view her as just a monster instead of people sexualizing her. Maybe they are trying to make people actually fear her with the new design? Though looks like what was made with AI lol.

I am not aware of Poison Ivy as villain. But a scientist turning into poison Ivy for her love of plants is a cool concept. When I see the first picture, I feel that they could do a little more to add some more features to show her as a nature lover. It seems under done. But the second version has gone over board. It's overdone and can be overwhelming. It does not look aesthetic either.
