Sweet Tea?

Postby Spontaneo » 06 May 2026, 21:30

I have a big question to ask you.

My roommate has a bunch of brown sugar left from preparing no-bake cookies. I was wondering if I could prepare some iced sweet tea with brown sugar instead of plain sugar.

Have you ever prepared sweet tea with brown sugar?

Lol i have never tried this before, the taste might be weird. Maybe you can try making a small quantity first.

A person on weight loss buddy said that both are 1:1 ratio. I was worried about the calories. ;) ;)

No, I've never done it that way but I bet it'd work just fine. Go ahead and give it a go and see what happens. You might even accidentally find a great iced tea recipe that departs from the norm LOL I mean, I use brown sugar in my regular tea, and it tastes lovely.

I used to enjoy sweet tea. Nowadays I take tea without sugar.

Can you figure out?

A couple of days ago, I thought to prepare unsweetened iced tea for a change. So, I prepared 3 pitchers. Right?

Once chilled, I pour myself some.

Guess what the iced tea consisted of? Sweet tea!

What do you think happened? :( :(

Yes, I have. I feel brown sugar gives sweet tea a deeper, caramel flavor compared to white sugar. It dissolves well in hot water and makes the tea taste richer and less sharp.

If you are making sweat tea, either add the sugar when the tea is hot, or mix in some simple syrup (a mix of sugar and water, concentrated) when it is cool.

I feel when it's hot is the best time, cause it's easier then.
