Hi Friends,

I could not download Comodo Chromium Secure Private internet Browser, and then I have tried to download Epic brower this browser was downloaded but I am not finding its icon on my screen or in documents also. So I have to go for "Tor Brower" today I have installed it also, but this browser icon is looking just like a folder. Lot of seniors and experienced person are here so kingly guide me how use this "Tor Browser" for browsing purpose.

TOR isn't necessarily safe.... It entirely depends on who is controlling the TOR nodes. They can somewhat spy on traffic. What's your objective with using a private browser? Why not use a VPN or something to protect your identity?

Thanks for your response, I do not know much about internet and computer. Recently my credit card was mis-used in USA but gods sake all attempts are declined. So I have seen this browser in News paper. I do not know about VPN or something can you explain it to me please.

If you are worried about releasing your credit card details then you should:
- Ensure all credit card transactions take place using SSL (i.e. https:// website.com). That ensures the data is encrypted.
- Use PayPal or another such service rather than your credit card directly.

Thanks for response both of you, my credit card transaction on on-line every time it asks "One time password", but when it swiped in the merchandise it will not ask "OTP". You have not given information about "VPN" what is it please.

A VPN stands for Virtual Private Network and it is usually used by companies to provide secure access for their staff to their servers remotely. However, it can also be used to hide your identity to a certain degree similar, but much better, than a proxy. Once you connect to a VPN, everything you do on the internet would seem to have been requested by the VPN ip (e.g. loading websites, torrenting etc.).

I used to run a free vpn service but I let the servers and domain expire as no one was using it which was disappointing. You'll have to do a search as I haven't tried any other vpn service.

For privacy use we may install those privacy browsers, all persons does not need to install privacy browsers. People dealing with business may use those privacy browsers like tar browser.

TOR can actually be LESS safe if it's used by someone who has setup the browser incorrectly. There's no fool-proof installation process, and many experienced users have failed too. ".onion" websites are usually full of users who regularly prey on unsuspecting newbie users of TOR as well.

I've never used TOR myself. All of my knowledge comes from friends in internet security class, and programmers. A .onion website is usually a url that sounds like gibberish, and it can only be accessed by the TOR browser. One of the first things people on TOR learn to access is a special version of wikipedia (not affiliated with the original wikipedia), which is a .onion website.

You probably know more about TOR than I do. xD

Tor Browser is good for hiding your IP or trying to access region-restricted sites. However, it is quite unsafe especially the self hosted one's. And now its no longer a safe method of hiding or cloaking your IP and internet. FBI have already launched a Operation Torpedo which can determine the user behind a proxy server based on Metasploit Decloaking engine. So its no longer safe I guess.

Thanks for the response, I could not find Tor browser in my system, any how I do not wish to use it. So no worry about it, first I must clean up the system and then use another service for privacy. Or it is better to use a PC tab for all cash transactions.
