Sleep is an ingredient to healthy living, it one action that one can hardly cheat in nature. Not everybody find it easy to sleep especially at night due to one reason or the other.

Sleep that's one think I really need and I am not getting enough of it. Modern life demands too much from us and almost doesn't give us time to live, we are always running against the clock. Me for example last month I worked out 10 hours a day, waking up at 6 am and returning home at 19:30, I felt like I had no life at all, not even 6 hours sleep I was getting because I was so tired I couldn't fall asleep.
Sleep is very important for our body to recover, I notice that my mood gets better if I get 8 hours sleep, which I only get when I have a day off, the other days I am just fighting against tireness.

I was the type of person to stay up very late. I now realize the importance the sleep process is to the body and mind. I am learning to prepare for sleep a lot earlier and I expect to reap the benefits.

It is impossible for human beings to function properly without sleeping. Robots maybe. Sleep deprivation greatly affects the brain and how you function. I am so surprised to hear a scientist say we do not need to sleep. They should be the first to know better.

It has been proven by science that we need about 8 hours of sleep everyday, without it, not only will we not function in our maximum capability, we could also get ill because of it. Unfortunately, nowadays, that is not possible for all of us to have that kind of sleep. It seems like sleep has become more of a luxury than a need.

Sufficient sleep helps to reduce the stress on the muscle and it can get recovered from muscle damage. It uplifts our health.

In my case it is more that I need to sleep in a proper time.
I usually stay late and do something online or just surf or YouTube, so in the morning I am just useless. :D

Good article.

Sleep deprivation has actually been used as a means of torture. That should tell us something.

Angie10 wrote:@ceci...hehehe in as much as I love my sleep, I can never sleep before 11 pm. It's just too early for me. If it were up to me, if I didn't have weird work hours, I'd never ever sleep before 1 am, and probably get up no earlier than 9 am. I prefer to stay up late and get up later :)

Me too. I can't go to bed too early, or I won't have a sound sleep/stay asleep. Too many years of working nights. I don't like to get up too early no matter what time I've gone to bed, but alas, I don't have a choice. I'm usually up by 6 or 7, so I *try* to be in bed by midnight.

It is known to help a lot. I am not sure how some people can function without sleep.

I know @skysnap! I was talking to my taxi driver recently and was shocked to hear that he survives on 3-4 hours' sleep! I told him it's not good for the body, that he needs to recharge and allow his body to regenerate. I get very cranky if I don't get a full night's sleep, especially if I have to go into work.
