i use Avast!.. Also keep track of those processes your PC is having. I regularly check processed applications from task manager and google the name if i find it new or suspicious.

Right now I got Malwarebytes and Spybot S&D. Though Windows Defender is doing a great job in warding off most viruses.

This is all good advice, I also use Avast! and I can't for the life of me remember the name of a website that lists Windows processes and tells you what they do, so you can decide if it's a malicious process or not.

paulojunior85 wrote:There are several ways to get viruses on your computer. Although the most common is to visit a malicious Web site or adult content, some virus can be installed in a hidden way when you install a free program.

Others can be installed after you click a suspicious link (which may have been sent by someone you know and not know you're infected too).

The best way to avoid catching virus is:

Avoid clicking on any link, regardless of who sent you;
Read the link - the site name will be exposed in it, ask the question what it is instead of clicking;
Public enterprises or large companies like banks or other companies do not ask for personal information by e-mail. If you receive a message that, immediately delete the message without clicking on anything;
Do not install suspicious attachments on your computer;
When downloading files beware the site of origin;
When installing free programs on your computer read all windows and installer instructions instead of always click "continue". That way you prevent malicious programs and extensions are installed, adware, malware and virus on your machine.

Thank you so much for furnishing such useful info. People like me who do not have even a basic knowledge of computers will be greatly benefited with this info. Though i will be careful in clicking on any link and downloading something , sometimes blindly i will do such mistakes inviting viruses. Hereafter i will be very careful.

Anti virus affect your computer more than the virus sometimes. Our webbrowsers block "bad" websites automatically which means we dont need to worry about that.

The best way to not get any viruses are to download a Linux OS.

I feel that my antivirus programs (Avast and Malwarebytes) are keeping my computer very safe from viruses. It really is important to keep an eye on the websites you are visiting as well as which programs you are installing on your computer.
