How often do you clean your keyboard?

Postby Coinlv » 14 Jul 2015, 16:42

Apparently they are even dirtier than the average toilet seat. You need compressed air, a small brush, and perhaps a paperclip to get the dirt out, then an anti-bacterial wipe/spray to clean it.

I try to clean it once a month because it is a very tedious thing to do. It is quite surprising how a small item can accummulate so much dust! It makes it a lot worse if you accidentally knocked off a drink towards your keyboard so the keys stick when pressed.

I don't really clean it, I just turn it upside down and slam it into the desk and watch little pieces of dirt and food fall out

I got a laugh with the thread title. My keyboard is normally dirty, waheehee, because I often eat while in front of the computer. And cleaning it? Hmm, maybe twice a year. Last month, some keys of my keyboard were acting strange and it's because of the dirt. But after cleaning it was still not working properly so I had to buy a new one. Well?

I saw this bacterial spray and keyboard cleaner in a chinese shop here in the Philippines. It was just a mini version of a vacuum cleaner and it's about the size of a pen. I tested it out but I realized that it was useless so I just got back into wiping my keyboard. I also try to change my keyboard after 6 months. I'm planning to change it because the shift key is already broken.

I regularly clean my keyboard before doing my online job. I don't feel comfortable at all when I recognize my keyboard full of dust. There are a special terry towel and a small brush for it as well as to the screen. The feeling when the stuff is clean is relaxing.

Can totally relate to that! If I get lazy I end up doing that as well or I try my best to slip antibacterial wipes on the spaces between the keys as best as I can. In my head, I just think that at least some parts of the keyboard gets disinfected.

When I'm hungry, I just tip it upside down and hover up the crumbs with my mouth.

Do you mean clean it thoroughly, or just turn it upside down and give it a little shake every so often? ;)

My keyboard gets a shake more often than it actually gets a good cleaning. I have so many other things to clean that it's usually kind of low on my list.

A little wiping here and there each time I use my laptop is fine. The keys are too flat for anything to get stuck in between.

I like to have my keyboard clean ... I use a dark keyboard for note-less when dirty!
Also often change keyboard, which also helps.

Not as often as I should. I usually use a little brush but I have been more careful since my old keyboard had enough breadcrumbs to make a sandwich.

I clean it every time I have to keep it after using. The dust might wreck my keyboard I know and might be the cause why it keeps on hanging when I tab it. I need to clean it so that the dust will lessen.
