In the action horror zombie game, Days gone, one of the enemies you will encounter are zombie children. I am uncomfortable killing them so I just avoid them.
I have a feeling there is a high chance the reboot of the fighting game Samurai shodown might get banned in the US because of one character. Rimururu...... She is this cute and adorable looking little girl below.
Samurai shodown is a violent fighting game set in Feudal Japan. One of the characters you can play as or fight against is Rimururu, She is a 12 year old Ainu warrior who uses a dagger as a weapon and she have ice powers. So she is not an ordinary little girl. She can dismember her opponent and her opponent can also kill her brutally. She is killable in the older Samurai showdown games but those games are 2d, now the game is 3d, seeing her getting killed felt wrong because it is sorta realistic. When I fight against her, I just kill her with a kick because characters randomly get dismembered on this game if you use a weapon. Its fair treatment though because if you play as her she can kill people brutally too. If you Wonder why a character like her is allowed to exist. Well Most Japanese Superheroes are kids. So she is of Anime influence. Also Japan thinks she is not a real child, she is just a fictional character. To be fair Japan have the lowest crime rate on earth.
In Metal Gear Solid 5, One of the boss fights is against a Guerilla little boy. He is just a kid but he is evil so you have to stop him.
Many people said children characters should not be killable in video games while other people said they should be because they are not real children. They are only fictional characters. Most children characters in videogames are not helpless, their damage are weaker but they are faster so they can kill you fast.
In resident evil 7 the main villain is Eveline, a Bioweapon who is a human fungi hybrid. Growing up lonely in a lab, All Eveline wanted is a family. When she discovered her powers, she used it to turn humans into monsters called Molded and also turned an innocent family into cannibalistic mutants who are very violent because they are under her control. She wanted to turn everyone into her family by infecting them with her spore that transform humans into fungi monsters.
You won't feel bad killing Eveline though because she will turn into an ugly blob monster on the final boss fight. So technically you are not killing a little girl but a blob fungi monster instead. Eveline is not controversial since she have to turn into this blob before you can kill her.

I look at video games as just that - video games. They aren't real and have no affect on your moral standards. I wouldn't feel "uncomfortable" killing anyone in a game, let alone children, especially if it had something to do with the story line.

Some years ago video games were much less realistic. I remember a motorcycle race game that we could run over people like pregnant women for instance. However, nowadays games are really realistic and, because of that, I think that is really awkward kill other people, especially kids or pregnant women...

I won't feel bad about those since they dont look human but I will feed bad with Rimururu, even if I play her I cannot avoid fighting her because mirror matches happens. People loves using her because she is very fast despite of her low health. Unlike Mortal Kombat where you can fatality opponents by intention, In samurai showdown, it randomly happens unless you kill your opponent with a kick. There is a 50% chance you can cut your opponent to two or dismember them.
Eli from Metal gear is killable for me because he is so annoying. He is an evil brat from hell.

In Samurai showdown IV, You can only knockout rimururu. In Samurai Showdown V, her immunity from fatality was removed. I dont know if she is immune if Samurai Showdown 2019

this is a good question. I've made some horror games, and i often struggle with the duality of realism vs game worlds. I tend to avoid any kid deaths in my games, I love blood and gore but I guess I'm not hardcore enough to deal with it. Nor pets.

I am not that attached to animals because in Tomb Raider, Lara Croft kills a lot of them. So I was conditioned.
Killable and playable kid characters is common in Japanese fighting games because Majority of Japanese superheroes are children

Since we have so much time to spend at home and some students being homeschooled, I am sure you have heard your child or younger sibling playing the game Among Us which is an online video game. This game has become popular cause the gamers get to connect with each other and don't have to meet in person and worry about spreading the ongoing virus. This has just left me perplexed and I keep wondering if this game is appropriate for kids.

Yeah you are right those things do not even look human they are so creepy and scary. I think silent hill is one of the most scary movies ever.

In Resident evil 7, I am glad that Eveline mutated into a blob monster first before the final boss fight because at least I didn't kill her in her human form.

This is an interesting question. The creator of the Ultima series, Richard Garriott, was infamous for placing scenarios in his games where the protagonist was forced to kill children as a sort of dark commentary on the ambiguity of morality.

I agree with the latter. Those are just pixelated characters. And most of them don't look like children, they look like an adult midgets. LOL.

In Dead by Daylight, One of the killers is a 14 year old girl named Susie. The adult playable characters refuses to hurt her because of her age.If a Masked Psycho teenage girl who stabs people with a broken ruler to death tries to attack me, I will give her equal treatment to Adult killers who will try to kill me.
Its ridiculous adult characters with military and combat training cant kill her because they cant hurt a kid.

Lol. But could kill a young terrorist. The irony. Kids in games are not real. They should not take them seriously.
