Re: What To Do If My Laptop Is OverHeating

Postby Alexandoy » 24 Jul 2015, 02:38

What first comes to my mind about the heating of a computer is the blower. Check the auxilliary fan if it is working and then clean the air vents. But after that and the heat is still there, take a look at the hard disk.

Keeping your fans dust free is essential. A cooler also helps quite a lot, especially during summer! I also heard about thermal paste having to be replaced sometimes is a thing but tbh I'm a noob when it comes to that so if your computer ever needs it, get some experienced help!

Mine is old it over heats all the time I keep something under it, but take a break, shut it down ever so often. Or it will shut down itself.
It had a virus one day, since the virus, it never worked the same, so I would say, safe up for new one, then get the one you have checked out.

I had a problem like that then my fan started making a funny clicking sound. I recently had the fan replaced but it still feels like its over heating sometimes. I have a cooling station but I don't think it works so well

You must get it rest for a while, shut down and restart after 30 minutes to cool down. I lost my laptop because I charge it overnight, the next day I used it I can't even open it, the technician says it was damage.

Just remove the bottom cover and spray out all the collected dust using a can of compressed air. This usually solves the problem immediately.

Have you tried a cooling pad. If not, try it soon. It will help you to reduce heating.

I may help you this from my experience. I had a Toshiba Qosmio for several years. It started to overheat but never turned off although sometimes it would get really hot (I miss that laptop, it was fantastic). One day my brother and I decided to open it and disassemble it completely following the proper manuals and internet tutorials. You would be amazed about the amount of dust a laptop can build up overtime. We cleaned it carefully and replaced the thermal paste. After that it ran smoothly without the overheating problem.
