Tips On How And Where To Travel

Postby Spontaneo » 14 Dec 2021, 22:11

First of all, do you prefer to travel by land, air or sea?

Personally, I need to travel by car. I have traveled by air in the past. However, I am too much of a coward to do it now. When I was a child, I wanted to travel to England so bad. We were poor. There was no way we could have afforded to buy airline tickets.

I have traveled by bus before. A few loved ones and I went by bus to see a Pittsburgh Pirate baseball game and to see some parks, such as Sea World.

Where have you traveled?

I have traveled to California by plane to see Knott’s Berry Farm, the ocean and Disneyland. I went to Myrtle Beach by plane and laid out on the beach. I have been to other places, but mostly by car.

Would you like to go there again?

I might go to these places again. If not by car, then by bus. Both types of vehicles make me feel safe.

So, yes, personally, I would love to go to these places again.

Is it expensive?

Mostly where I have traveled, they are tourist spots. So, yes, expensive. It is good to travel with your own food as tourist spot grocery stores are usually sky-high in cost. I can be wrong sometimes though.

The Amish are known for their hospitality. An example of one of my favorite vacation spots is Amish Country. Tons of food (especially homemade noodles). Tons of shops, especially thrift shops and homemade goods. For example, I love their jalapeno jams, such as jalapeno blackberry, jalapeno cherry, etc. If you shop online for such jams, the cost is astronomical. Next, there are lots of hotels. The hotels, such as The Carlisle, are so peaceful. Some rooms have a view of the Amish countryside. Then, watch out for those horses and buggies!

Attached is a photo of one of my favorite Amish restaurants called The Dutch Valley. The all-you-can -eat buffet is outstanding. Usually, when I dine there, I gain 4 pounds! The wait is usually 20 minutes. The restaurant is huge with an accompanying bakery and gift shop. In the summer, the restaurant’s front porch has Amish-made rocking chairs to either rock while waiting or to buy.

If you ever travel to Ohio, the Amish are the way to go. Cedar Point can’t even come close to being as good as the Amish.

I don't want to go by sea because I can't swim.
I prefer to go by air if I am traveling by myself; and would like the flight to be no longer than 2 or 3 hours.
If I want to see the USA, I am more than happy to travel in my Chevrolet. :D

LOL. I see you got the "Chevrolet" reference. Actually I don't drive a Chevy any more. I don't own a car any more, so I borrow my son's car, a Pontiac. But I have great memories of some of the first cars I owned. One was a Chevy Malibu and the other was a Chevy Impala. I wish I had hung on to them and kept them in mint condition. They would be worth a lot now.

My first car was a 1981 Honda Accord! No a/c. A stick shift. No radio. The spedometer did not work so I had to guess how fast I was driving!

You can wear a floatie or a life Jacket though. I love swimming in hot springs because they make me feel loose on the bones.

I cannot swim either. My family did have a 4 foot deep swimming pool for years. I would simply layout on an intertube to catch some sun and get a tan. I find sunbathing to be soothing.

Traveling by Air and Taxi or short rail travel + Taxi would be something I would like the most.
However, in these Covid times, it is more likely to be travel by road or own car.
And well, places where one can stay for a few days peacefully.
Travel where one needs to jump from one place to another too rapidly is something that I am not in favor of.

I miss having my own vehicle so much. Stinks relying on my roommate to take me places. I was a good driver too.

I used have my own car but financial difficulties caused me to lose it. However, I don't go that many places and my son is kind enough to let me borrow his care whenever I need to go somewhere.

So can't you somehow get a new vehicle to travel? Dependency is always a big constraining factor and stressful as well.

If the cities had better public transportation I could care less about owning a car. But that's the problem with where I live. When I lived in Maryland and worked in D.C., I took a bus to the train station and then took the Metro train to my job. It was so convenient. Now I live In Austin, Texas and the public transportation system SUCKS!

There is a bus here, but the cost is astronomical. I would be paying money that I do not even have.

I am happy doing what I do and shopping online, unless my roommate drives me to and from with the other roommate who doesn't drive, of which we both do pay her.

And that's another complaint I have. If the transportation was good I would not mind the cost.

I only do my shopping nearby and major purchases online. Occasionally, if the roommate is in the city, she picks up a few things for myself.

I doubt if I am going to have any vacations this year. I would love to go to the Amish country. The Annual Women's Non-Denominational Retreat that is held every April, I look forward to. However, the ladies that I usually travel with stopped attending.

So, I guess that you can say that I travel via my laptop!

I like tropical environments. But at the moment, I don't want to go anywhere near Florida. Not with the Tate brothers there.
