Even if everyone else thinks Tobey Maguire is the original Peter, Marvel and Sony knows better. I'm not sure what their reason is for not inviting him but I heard that he was hoping they'd approach him. He said it would have been fun.

This movie spawned the campaign to make a 3rd Andrew Garfield Spiderman film because he never had his closure and his performance on this film is an evidence that there is money with the multiverse concept.

You know it was said that it's because he didn't show up at an event where Kaz was supposed to make an announcement [2017 release: Amazing Spider-Man 3]. Garfield had said he didn't go because of an illness.

He is open to the idea of a third one and there's no doubt this is what the fans are waiting for!

Now there is a demand for a 4th Tobey Spiderman movie. I am not sure if its possible because his spiderman have no secret identity anymore. He is now Public also Rosemary Harris, the actress who played Aunt May is now 94. Kirsten Dunst also didn't age well, she now looks like Tobey's Mom.

I wonder at what part in the timeline they'd pick up from. Word on the street is that Sony is considering it. If this pulls through we might very see Kirsten, as she has said elsewhere that being Mary Jane was a huge part of her career.
