Firestarter, A horror movie for people afraid of fire

Postby Netherrealmer » 09 Feb 2022, 06:53

This movie is based from a Stephen King horror novel. It was made into a movie in 1984 with a then 10 year old Drew Barrymore as a lead. This film is about a dad and a daughter trying to runaway from the government because the government see her as a potential weapon. Why? The daughter have Pyrokinesis or powers to control and summon flames. The dad just want her to have a normal life and not be experimented on a lab. This film is horror because she will be killing some government agents. It is weird that Zac Efron is now playing a Dad role.

This was the 1984 original with Drew Barrymore

The original felt more like a Superhero movie, the remake will be horror because Stephen King intended it to be horror but Little Drew Barrymore was so cute back then so the movie was turned less dark.

If you found out your 10 year old daughter is a pyrokinetic and the government wants you to surrender her so they can use her as a weapon, would you agree?

Some children born with some special attributes. Here in my country I also listen that some children remember their previous birth.

First of all, I LOVED this book, and the movie with Drew Barrymore. Second, I would never, ever turn my child over to the government just because he or she has some sort of special ability. For the government to even think someone would just turn their child over because they could potentially be used as a weapon is ridiculous. Of course people aren't just gonna hand over their child for the government to experiment on them like a guinea pig or rat in a lab, it doesn't even make sense for someone to think that would be a thing. I always did think the government agents in the book/first movie were insane to think the dad would just hand his daughter over to them and never see her again as well as turning himself over to be studied for HIS power too. It's definitely a horror story even if the first movie wasn't as dark because Drew Barrymore was too cute to make it that dark and it was on TV originally as well if I'm not mistaken.
