When I was discussing 'the ending of (a PHASE of) the good fight-saga,' I wanted to kind of 'play it off' with the song "Where Do We Go from Here?" So I found an online-video of the song (the first one I found was just the song & only showed lyrics) & shared it on that discussion.
I thought maybe it was 'just an old pop-song' or maybe 'a church-song' or a song from the old musical HAIR. And maybe it was, but--going back to that video-search--I saw 'where I had originally heard it ...
(the ending of "Once More, with Feeling," an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer in which 'the weekly big-bad' was a demon that made the whole town sing all their feelings)
Are there any songs you can think of that--hearing the songs now--most people have no idea where the songs originated or what they were originally about?

I would say that there are lots of songs that people enjoy and sing along to, that they don't really know what they are about or where they originated. This would definitely be true for me, I can enjoy a song without thinking about it much or understanding its origin.

Sure do and it's one of my favorites, "Seven Spanish Angels" by Ray Charles and Willy Nelson.
