That makes me think of GIGO (Garbage In, Garbage Out), the other side of the 'it's worth the work you put into it'-coin (though I think it came from ... I'll look---it was originally 'only about math' (if you put the wrong numbers into the army's computer, you're gonna get the wrong answer),

and now it explains the poor quality of digitized files (although digitizing 'cleans up' the old media, you're not going to get 'details that weren't there before'); it also applies to human decisions based on partial information.

What about LIFO -last in, first out. Another programming method but it is best explain with plates. Last you cleaned and set on top, first go out.
