Does what you have learnt in that degree involves the kind of work you are doing?

To honest, these days having a college degree is actually not enough. Especially now that people have access to all sorts of opportunities both offline and online.

I'm a teacher. I did a degree in education, so all of it came in useful for teaching.

What you study at university is different from work requirements simple.

No, clearly not, haha. About 30 years ago, that alone wasn't enough. It's not about the knowledge you have, but about the ability you have to earn money and maintain good personal finances. A university degree is simply the legal document that gives you the right to practice the profession you graduated from, nothing more than that. All the rest of the work is outside of university and is a personal journey, but clearly a university degree alone isn't enough. Like I said, 30 or 50 years ago it might have been, but nowadays it's obsolete.

It's a shame you wasted so much time learning only to end up doing something completely unrelated. It's great that you gained knowledge and that you found your path despite everything. Didn't you try being a teacher? Even a private teacher, or an online teacher, you could teach on the internet, be a freelance teacher, and that way you'd put all your studies to good use.

Nah, not for me. I studied things like child development and how to create learning experiences and programs within the government guidelines and legislation, so I use it all the time.

For sure there are some things in any uni course that might never come up in your job, but it depends what you study and what you end up actually doing for work as to how much crossover there is.

If you get something out of it personally it can still be worthwhile.

I don't use what I did in my undergrad degree at work, only my postgrad, but it has made my life richer and more interesting so I don't consider it a waste of time.

Let me clarify. I did have a managerial job with a multinational company where the English language helped me but I got the grasp of the language to a different exposure and not from what I got being in college.

Fair enough. College is probably not the best place to learn a language. You'd be bound to learn more from day to day conversations with people.
