Age of Attraction

Postby Netherrealmer » 30 Jan 2026, 05:39

Right now we live on an age where there are people on their 40s but look like on their 20s, and we also have people who look too old for their age. Like recently, I had seen a 19-year-old who looks like a 36 years old. And because of that, there is a new reality show on Netflix called Age of Attraction, where people are not allowed to reveal their age. They're going to cast middle-aged people who are too baby-faced and Gen Z and millennials who are too old for their age. And also there are people who look like their age. So in this dating show, people have no idea what's the age of the people they are dating. But one thing is guaranteed, all of them are adults. But yeah, there's one female contestant here who have no idea that this mature young man she's dating who looks like on his 30s is actually younger than her college son.

Sounds like an interesting concept. I don't like those types of dating reality show, but they are obviously very popular. I wonder how couples feel after they become aware of the substantial age difference.

Let's have a successful dating show called Love is Blind where people are dating without seeing each other. They just talk to each other between a wall, and a lot of them break up the moment they saw who they fall in love with. I wonder if that's going to affect on this show, although in case of Love is Blind, it caused more successful couples than Bachelor or Love Island.

These days there are people in their forties but look in their twenties and there are also some who are younger but have a tired look. I have seen a nineteen year old look thirty six and that amazes me to see the contrast. Some genetics keep them fresh while others lifestyle makes them look older. I feel age has become a relative thing and people carry different vibes depending on their life.

The "Age of Attraction" refers to the psychological phase where individuals are drawn to certain traits in others, often influencing relationships and personal growth during adolescence and early adulthood, shaping identity and social behaviors in various cultural contexts worldwide today.

I noticed a pattern on this show, the most youngest-looking older people are either black or Asian, and the oldest-looking young people on the show are mostly white.

Interesting idea. I think for me if I was dating and there was a significant age difference it's things like their attitude, cultural references etc. that would give it away more so than looks.

I wouldn't want to date someone who was at a very different point in their life from me and wanted different things (like for example right now I wouldn't want to have any more children and probably couldn't if I wanted to, a younger guy might want them, they also might want to travel the world while I'm settled in my job and want to stay where I am). We also might not get each other's jokes, having not seen the same movies and tv shows, read the same books, grown up in the same social and political climate. Even those things might not be deal breakers for some people but they would be for me.

Sounds fun, but am not really into reality shows, but am curious though, won't it cause issues if some find out the actual age of who they are dating, especially in a case where one might turn out to be younger, like the example you gave or is there some kind of agreement?

None of them are underage at least, but it will definitely cause issues. That's what they want, that's what makes for interesting drama to watch. But if they don't want to be together after finding out the other person's age they don't have to be.

Yes the safe side is the fact that none of them are under age
