Postby grecy0905 » 16 Jul 2017, 05:24

Every person working in the company has personal problems to deal with. Some of them have the talent of concealing it and there are lots who can’t handle personal problems. A personal problem is the number one enemy when it comes to focus at work. If you are having personal problems, it could affect your focus. Sometimes you do not know what to prioritize, your problem or your work. One thing is for sure, if you are working during the time of personal problems, you need to manage it in a way that it won’t affect your performance of work. I will share some tips to handle personal problems at work.

Be Honest
When a problem arises, it could affect your work. Unless you know how to handle personal problems, there is no way that you can share it with your boss. However, if you have, since it could affect your performance at work, you should share this with your boss if you can’t contain it anymore. This is one great way for you to open up and be understood.

Share the Details but not the Complete Details
Since you start sharing your problems with your boss, always remember you are just sharing something because it affects your work mood or to be able to understand. You don’t need to put too many details when you start talking to him or her. Everyone is busy at work, try to put the details directly and short. Just the right amount for him or her to understand what you are going through.

Choose Your Words
If you are talking to your boss, do not use your language at home. If you are sharing personal problems, be careful to the words you are sharing. It is important to be direct to the point. If you are doing it through email, it should be short and present the detail with professionalism. Every boss is a busy person, they likely want to help you but make sure it will not their time. Do not show that you are getting deeper with your problem. Always show that you are having problems but you already prepared a solution to it.

Be Prepared for Judgement

Judgment, or point of view, regardless if it happens or not, you need to prepare for it. Once you already shared your problems with your boss, for sure they will realize something about you. It all depends on how you handle it that is the reason why you need to include some solutions to your problem. Some boss will tell help you. They will give some tips for you to handle it. Some of them might not care once you already told them that you have the solution already. Just remember that once you shared personal problems, you already exposed to judgment.

Remember, Everyone at Work has Personal Problems
If you have personal problems and affect your performance at work, imagine what will happen if all of your co-employees are like you. Remember, if you are at work and personal problems arise, you still need to be professional about it. You can talk to your office mates what you are going through in a private place, for sure they will understand. Even your boss has a personal problem too. Always think to handle it first if you can. If you need help, ask help. If you can work, still work. Just be immediate with your response once a problem arises.

Taking your personal problems to work is the worst thing you could ever do to yourself. It can cause mayhem for you and could even cost you your job. But I agree with all that you have said. It makes perfect sense to choose your words carefully and avoid getting into any arguments with your fellow workers.

Unless its absolutely necessary for you to tell someone, it is best to keep personal issues away from the workplace. Opening up may actually work against you. A former workmate once told someone in management that she occasionally suffers panic attacks. This was used against her during performance review time and she ended up being fired.

Well, for me I think personal business should be left at home.Concentrating on your personal problem at work could affect your work, which will lead to work loss and queries. So personal shouldn't be handled at work place.

Your point are very nice and beneficial. It is always good not to give much details about your problem to your boss because Some don't how to manage information and he or she could use the details of your problems against you some day.

I remember a certain office mate before. She was having a problem about a stalker. She said it is her ex-suitor that she avoided after being dumped. That person was always tail gating her that he found out about her work place. He is always waiting for her that scares her always. She shared it to me and I shared it to our security guards. It affects her performance at work because she is always scared. We asked the help of our boss when I cannot helped her anymore. Our boss able to help her. Sharing her problems at work even made us all protect her from this man. We have different personal problems and somehow sharing it in a professional manner could help.

I think that a police could do a better job, because it is really a personal problem and if a man is stalking on her it is considered a criminal behavior.
I know that this sort of a thing is highly personal but if it is emerges as a problem it should be reported to the authorities.
A warning from a police could have a better effect.
