Apple Music or Spotify

Postby lightning18 » 31 Jul 2015, 02:46

With the release of Apple Music, people thinks that Spotify will in the end be defeated by the tech giant. Which do you prefer? I have never actually tried the apple music since I'm already using Spotify. I even have spotify on my computer desktop so I don't think I need to change the way I stream music. What about you?

What I do like about Apple Music is the fact that you can buy that family membership for up to 6 people, which is something services like Spotify and Tidal are really missing out on.

spotify is better and I don't have an apple device so it's basically the applicable one for me. What's best? Download music on the internet for free.

Spotify...

Why would you support Apple Music? They just copied the Spotify model and added nothing. They aren't the innovators. They're like Kodak which only switched into digital cameras when they were 100% sure their business model was obsolete. Spotify has a fantastic service.

You said copy ?? whether there is evidence of it ?? heart - the heart of every word without a strong foundation of evidence that can be dangerous :ugeek: :ugeek:

What do you mean, "where is the evidence?" Spotify were certainly not the first music streaming service but the service was developed in 2006 and they managed to create a freemium model which works well (1/4 of their users are premium). They have a discover service, radio, playlists, great artist pages etc. What's Apple really bringing here? The only reason they switched to offer a streaming service is their Itunes Music revenue was declining. Honestly if Apple still had a monopoly on music.... Well I know I certainly wouldn't have paid $1.29/ song for my playlist. Spotify Premium has given me access to indie artists who I would never have discovered. I'm going to continue to support Spotify. They made the streaming music market.

I agree somewhat, my music library is an offline based MP3 collection, but that's only because I haven't had a use for streaming music before, I can definitely see how streaming music is much easier than doing it the way I am, and it saves space on your hard drives.

Neither. I use Groove Music (formerly Xbox Music), as it is with me on every device, and is beautiful. It's simple, and does exactly what I need, without any bloat.

Just a thought, they are actually going to introduce the apple music in android devices maybe next year. They are porting the software in android. I think I'd still prefer spotify though because you don't have to download anything and has a huge music library.

I actually prefer Apple music purely for the integration with my existing music library. I do have thousands of audio files (I won't say what they are as it makes me look really sad and geeky :ugeek: ) that can't be matched and they are pretty big files aswell so I need to store them "in the cloud". Spotify allows users to "sync" local files but that never seemed to work well and needed more space then I needed anyway. I used to use iTunes Match and then pay for Spotify aswell and then use the 2 apps (Spotify for my music and the music app for my other audio) but now I can do it all in 1 app.

Yes Apple music is a bit messy when it comes to it's interface but I am sure it will be improved and it seems to work alright once you get used to it and where things are. If I didn't have all my other audio, I would probably have stuck with Spotify until Apple music was a bit more mature and developed and then see how they compare.

From what I know, Spotify is getting to be a hit and it may topple Apple Music from its throne. I am not a music lover and I don't intend to subscribe to Spotify but I have some friends who are into it.

You got it a bit backwards, Spotify was the giant that came before Apple Music was released just a short while ago.

I prefer Spotify as I don't want all my online services to be under Apple's ecosystem. iTunes started off quite well and I was a huge fan. However, these days I hardly ever use iTunes as I prefer getting my music from other places such as Bandcamp.
