Have you ever read and finished a Stephen King novel or novella?

Postby MattTolentino02 » 30 Mar 2022, 06:42

I've read so many works of Stephen King, and I'm now in the middle part of Lisey's Story.

Carrie, Kujo, Christine, It and Pet Sematary. The rest I knew about him are movies and TV shows.

Trivia, In the novel, Carrie is fat but she is skinny in all 4 movie adaptations. The Chloe Grace Moretz version is the closest to the book.

In novel version of it, The loser Squad had an Orgy because their virginity is what keep them under Pennywise's spell. In the movie they changed it into a blood pack.

I read them as ebooks. Ebooks are easier to find.

Wow! After doing a quick research, I found out that there are 4 Carrie films already. I thought that only the original and the 2013 version existed.

This is what I can share as a Stephen King Scholar.

Yeah there are 4 Carrie movies and also a sequel.

Carrie 1976 starring Sissy Spacek, The Oscar winning Horror movie. Most fans say its the best but I hate the unnecessary nudity scene, The character is suppose to be a 17 year old girl and the director gave her craptons of shower scenes. It has the best theme song though.

There was the 1997 Filipino remake, The movie was upload on Youtube but sadly no subs so I dont understand it.

2002 Remake starring Angela Bettis

There is also Carrie 2 which is a sequel about Carrie's half sister Rachel, Instead of being embarrassed with pig's blood, Her sex video got leaked at a projector in a party.

Carrie 2013 is the most book accurate and it gave the villain Chris a more satisfying death. Also the actress who played Carrie is an actual teen but she is too pretty to play school loser.

There is also a Carrie Broadway musical. The song "The World According to Chris" Explain why Chris is evil and why she bullies people. Promise the song is catchy.

Now we will have a 6th Carrie movie.

I have read and finished many Stephen King novels and novellas. He is one of my very favorite authors. My mom is a fan as well that's what started me reading his work. I am a voracious reader and started reading young, I made my way through all my kids books and had nothing left I hadn't read so I moved on to my mom's books. I picked up a book with a car on the cover because it looked cool and discovered the novel Christine. I was hooked! I then moved on to Cujo, Carrie, Firestarter and It. I have since read all of his Dark Tower novels, Needful Things, the Bachman Books, The Talisman, Black House, Thinner, The Dark Half, Rose Madder, Misery, and so much more. I often reread my favorites and at this point I think I may have read It so many times I've practically memorized it. I read my old hard cover copy of it so much the binding broke and I had to replace it with a paperback copy. I had the same issue with several of my Dark Tower books as well.

I really enjoyed the first two Dark Tower novels but I can't get past The Wastelands. Was there ever a a Stephen King novel, novella or short story that you weren't able to finish?

I read and enjoyed all of them, except the last one. My favorites were the first one "The Gunslinger" and the fifth one "The Wolves of Calla".

I read "Pet Cemetery" many years ago, really enjoyed it also and admittedly found it quite frightening :)

The firestarter remake is better than the original because the new girl is much more scarier than Drew Barrymoore. Drew is way too cute to be scary

I used to be a bookworm. Since my life is as busy as bee, I can not even finish reading novel books lately. Stephen King is one of my favorite renowned authors. In fact, I am planning to squeeze my time to read some of his books.

Stephen King is not my kind of author, his books don't attract me. I work in a library and we have many of his books but, like I said, I prefer other authors.

I'm currently reading Firestarter. I'm at the part where The Shop is experimenting on Andy. In our country, there has been one popular case of pyrokinesis: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mz4Qb1OhkEQ

I have never read any of Stephen King's writings. He's one of those authors that have so many of their books adapted to film that I never read their books. I have also never read Harry Potter books.
