Best Book You Have Ever Read?

Postby Spontaneo » 22 Oct 2022, 08:08

For myself, I have got to say "Look Great Feel Great" by Joyce Meyer.

Although she may be an evangelist, she does not preach that much in this book. The book is more of a fitness book.

She asks, "If a person saw a rundown church, they'd wonder about the pastor, wouldn't they?"

She goes on, for example, to take water wherever you go.

I have read this book over and over. I have given away 6 copies.

Poor Dad Rich Dad by Robert Kiyosaki because it motivates me to be rich and be miles away from poverty.

I even watched the movie adaptation because I adore the novel "The Kite Runner." I reread the book several times. When I traveled to Central Asia for a medical mission, I brought the movie and book.

The last book I read was my last best book to read. It was called Veronica decides to die.
My friend suggested it to me since I was suicidal then. I love how she found hope and overcame all her depression.

I've read thousands of books over the years, but I found Nelson Mandela's Long Walk to Freedom very inspiring, heart wrenching and thought provoking <3 It's so thick it took me MONTHS to finish :D

There was a book I found on a book shelf in my childhood home. I was about 9 or 10 years old. It was about the life of Sammy Davis Jr. The book caught my attention because there was a photo of him as a child dancing. I realized that he had been working ever since he was a little kid and so I wanted to know his story.

It's my favorite because it's the book that got me interested in reading biographies.

I'm not sure I can use the word "best book". But it's a book that left a lasting impression.

I may have read the same book. The main thing I recall from that reading is the part about him losing his eye and how that accident changed the design of Cadilac steering wheels.

I have read thousands of books over my life. I am not sure if I can say any one of them was a favorite. The only one that came to mind with this question was Great Expectations. It was an assigned reading in 9th grade English class. I enjoyed that story so much I went back and read it many times after the class related work was completed. In fact, that story was the reason I kept that book at the end of the school year just so I could read that story again and again in later years. That was the only school book I ever kept. That was the only possession I cried about when we lost everything in a major flood several years later.

I've watched a few different movie versions. Some were true to the script and some were not. I enjoyed those that followed the original script but quit watching early on those that modified the story. Good Old Pip!

My literature books from high school were excellent! We had American literature, English Literature, and World literature. I sold my books back to the school books tore so the new students could buy used books. But looking back, I regret that. All the books from my English classes I should have kept them. Ah well! When you're young you don't make the best decisions. Who knew I would want to read those books again 40 years later?

I regret giving away my book from a university Italian course. I had tons of notes throughout the book.
