Illegal Music Downloading

Postby prometeheus » 11 Jul 2015, 10:09

File sharing usually follows the peer-to-peer (P2P) model, where the files are stored on and served by personal computers of the users. Most people who engage in file sharing on the Internet both provide (upload) files and receive files (download).

What do you feel should be done to put an end to the illegal sharing of music? Should it be stopped? Is it perfectly fine to do?
Are you against it? I'm not. Most artists get most the money from tours.

I don't think piracy is immoral. I believe that software and recording companies greatly overstate the economic impact of piracy.

For example, Adobe frequently reports profit margins of over twenty percent. Their programs are some of the most easily pirated on the internet. Most of their profit, I believe, comes from businesses purchasing their software. After all, do you really think that someone would pay ONE THOUSAND dollars for a program for personal use?

There is another forum I frequented in the past where most of the people said they were against software piracy, yet most of them were in their teens and had the latest version of Photoshop. Somehow, that seems a little bit fishy to me. ;)

I think music/video games industry exagerrate when they blame piracy. is just a excuse.
Most ( or all ) people that download things illegaly is because they dont have money to buy or because they want to try before buy ( to know if is good, if is worth ) . Is even free publicity if that person just want to try but is possible the industry dont like that because you try before buy

and a funny song about piracy ;)

With services like Spotife and most music being available for free on YouToube (Vevo etc.), the piracy line gets more and more blurred.

You are right. I love spotify because there are already a lot of songs on their cloud system without the need to download them. I also think that piracy will be defeated if they lower the monthly cost of Netflix or Iflix. Anyway, I think they are illegal because you are stealing something without paying what is due to the artist.

I think in my opinion that will never get away with piracy as already closed famous sites later reappear again and even if there were a server that is over with these sites I think those people would find new alternatives so I think It is a difficult thing to stop it being illegal even people knowing that give chain even though the fines still do not stop so I think no one will ever be able to stop ;)
